Je T’aime Maman, 2022

An independent and driven woman, moved back to Chicago with an 18 month year old boy on her hip. When she couldn’t even afford a bottle of hairspray, she would sing “you can’t always get what you want” by the Rolling Stones. 38 years later + 21 Rolling Stones concerts in 15 cities across 7 counties, I couldn’t be prouder to call this successful self-made boss my mama.

For this mural, I featured her as a child on the left-side, with me on the right at the age we moved back to Chicago. I am crossing out the “T” in can’t, because if you try sometimes, you get what you need.
