As I researched the Batman comic and film series, I discovered that The Joker was created prior to Batman. However, it was frowned upon to have a Villain be the lead character. Instead of canceling the idea, Batman was brought to life so The Joker character could live on. I created this piece as an extension of the Gotham Currency Project. My vision centralized around the Joker and the $$ signs as they are featured in the Bicycle deck of cards. I decided to bring the Joker and $$ off of the canvas using acrylic gel. For the added pop, I highlighted the Joker’s facial features using acrylic paint and I dripped six varying colors of Montana Gold Spray Paint around the $$.
