This piece is a smaller rendition my work titled, Francisco. I was inspired to try a new graffiti method that depicts a neon glow effect. This particular design was influenced by a tattoo artist who recently did line work for a friend.
In order to execute the technique, I applied seven variations of yellow, red, and orange. The first layer being the darkest shade of yellow followed by three layers of graffiti dusting. In order to build a sense of depth perception, I added a black shadow line to the lower right of the eyes and smile. Additionally, I blended lighter shades of yellow and a final stripe of white. This in turn makes the human eyes see the illusion of a neon glow.
