Uncharacteristic Beauty | 36x48 | Framed
This abstract piece, depicts another setting of Mother Nature, as observed in my works titled Beyond the Surface and Higher Ground. My goal was to replicate the cascading lava from a volcano by using warm tones atop a random textured surface.
In order to create this effect, I applied a mixture of plaster and paste to the canvas. I then incorporated a variety of yellow and red acrylic paints along with a combination of gold, silver and copper leaf flakes.
This ultimately built a depth of chaotic layers that blended harmoniously together, similar to the hot lava flowing from the heart of a volcano.
I then had the urge to add a pop art twist and a multi-dimensional aspect to bring it all together. I decided to paint the classic Rolling Stones Tongue logo in-between a metal gas cap and a spiked sphere.
