This piece evolved over time with Rihanna being the initial central figure. I began by outlining a silhouette of her back, with a facial profile of her looking over her shoulder. I then added gold leaf as a representation of a crown, jewelry and her skirt. I envisioned a blend of acrylic paint to depict tiger stripes. Once I began the process, the black, orange and white were too simple. So I went all in and used the entire color spectrum. If you look beyond the surface, you will notice her silhouette in the background. The method and techniques were unorthodox, but that’s exactly what was needed in order to bring the piece to life.
